Cosy wigwams and a nice restaurant/ cafeteria run by a very nice couple in a convenient location (especially if you board an early ferry to Islay as we did). We can definitely recommend the place!
The best bit about The Isthmus is definitely the (new) owners. Not to say that anything else is at all bad, but they are really friendly and accommodating and nice to chat to. When we were there, they had just (1week ago) opened a cafe and were testing out their menu, so we got to try lots of their new food for free… (its very good!) and have a chat. Accommodation wise, pretty standard for a camping pod. Single story “bunkbed” setup. Little integrated table for luggage and storage. Electric convection heater (pretty powerful). Kitchen well equipped, but no washing up liquid. Two toilets (one with a shower) and a separate shower room too. All kept clean. Not cramped, even when the place was fairly full. Storage for bikes. If I was in the area again wanting this type of accommodation, wouldn’t hesitate to go back
The cabins are perfect for a short stay. We had one quick night after making the journey from Islay, before starting our long voyage on the road. Communication was great and we were able to organise a late check in. The room is very simple, no linen or towels are provided, unless organised prior. The area is very quiet and tranquil. The bathrooms are clean and the kitchen facilities are perfect for whipping up a meal or storing cold food and drink. Think no fuss convenience.
